A handwoven malong in Black and Gold from Maguindanao, Philippines, sourced directly from weavers who carry forward the inaul traditions of Mindanao. Medium weight with a smooth drape. Each piece is individually woven; no two are exactly the same.
One of the most adaptable garments in the Filipino wardrobe. Worn as a wrap skirt one day, a dress the next, a head covering when the occasion calls for it. The same cloth, endlessly rearranged.
WHAT IS A MALONG?
A malong is a large, tubular woven cloth used across Mindanao and the Sulu Archipelago. Traditionally worn as a skirt, dress, sarong, or head covering, it adapts across occasion, gender, and context. A staple of Filipino cultural dress for centuries.

SIZING
One size. Approximately 50" in height and 38" in width, measuring approximately 76" around when opened. Worn by wrapping, tying, and folding, adjustable across body sizes and styles.

Maguindanao weavers have practiced inaul weaving for generations. Each malong sold through Narra Studio supports artisans and their communities directly. Stock is limited by what artisans produce each season.
Every piece supports Filipino artisans and traditional craftsmanship.

Most Filipiniana and Barong fabrics have little to no stretch, and fit can vary depending on the cut, fabric, and how you prefer to wear your clothes. If you're between sizes or prefer a little more ease, we generally recommend sizing up.
